Our Desert Oasis...

We built our Ranchito on a barren piece of Desert Land.  We had only one tree, and we ate our lunch in the shade of this 'Palo Verde'.  We hauled water in a barrel...Later on, we hooked up to the municipal water line with plenty of good water.  Our place is now a green Oasis in the High-Desert's clean and healty air. For many it's an unfufilled dream to live under clear skies and total silence with free-roaming ranch animals, coyotes, rabbits, and birds...It is just "priceless".

Our backyard trees, 'Palo Verde' and 'Mesquite' are over-towered by an ancient  Cardon  Cactus which is estimated to be about 600 years old. ...   Now, this is  something!

I harvest the seeds and ad a few trees every year. It's nice to have shade!.

All Mesquite trees here on the ranchito grew from seeds to full size in about 5-6 years. You see seed  pods here in the pictures. The 'little' Cardon was here, it grew two new arms two years ago. The 'Cirio' scrub next to it has been transplanted. You see our 'old' outhouse somewhat hidden to the left. To the right is our air-conditioned office.

This one is a sweet mesquite tree, the beans are eatable.

These two ravens  became our pets, they are here as long as we are. One calls me by name every morning when he wants his portion of dog food. This year they   brought their offspring to the ranchito. Ravens are extremely smart and live a   family life for about 50 years.  (I hope I'm right on this one.)

We  are blessed with year-round flowers, this adds nice color to the ranchito

This 'hand-built' mechanics pit is a big help to keep our vintage cars on the road.  This here is a 1979 Volkswagen Diesel Dasher. Behind you see our retired water truck.

This has been the first colorfull sunset of the year.
