The Cardon
is one of the grandest plants of the desert. This relative
of the Saguaros of Arizona grows in many areas of the
Baja California Peninsula. It branches lower than
the Sagauro, and grows more massive. The
wooden ribs inside this cactus are used in a variety
of ways, mostly for construction and decoration. Its
branches serve as home for birds and other animals,
